Black History 365 | # 83 Shirley Chisholm

Shirley Chisholm was the first black person to be elected to Congress in 1968. Then in 1972 she became the first black woman of a major party to run for a presidential nomination. She served seven terms in the House, then retired from office to become a teacher and public speaker.
